Disappointing Film: The Kite Runner

The kite runnerPlease, do not watch the film “The Kite Runner” without reading the book first. I was extremely disappointed at the film, which rid the story from all its human emotional complexities. The book captures your attention and intrigues your curiosity from the very first page. Disappointingly, the movie does not give you that. If there would be one word to describe the film it would be “flat”.

مسرحية عبثية، تتكون من مشاهد قصيرة غير متصلة، من الاإرتجال على النص الأصلي. تدور احداث المسرحية فى السيرك و الشارع، فالسيرك دوماً يتحول إلى الشارع و الشارع دوماً يتحول إلى السيرك, حتى يصبحان جزءاً واحداً. هل اصبحت حياتنا سيرك ام السيرك حياتنا؟

An absurd play, composed of split second disjointed scenes that bring out the circus in the streets and the street in the circus. The performance is the result of improvisation based on the original text that leads to an ever-changing picture on stage where the street and circus are always evolving into each other until they gradually merge into one. “There are as many realities as you care to imagine” (Lawrence Durell).

Star Global Day for Darfur

Student Action for Refugees (STAR) invites the AUC community to Global Day for Darfur on Sarurday, September 16, 2006 from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Ewart Hall, Main Campus.
The event will feature music and dance performances, an arts and crafts azzar, free food, and an information booth to raise awareness about the ongoing crisis in Darfur
Beginnig at 12:p.m. in the Howard Theater, several films will be screened regarding the refugee situation in Darfur, followed by a discussion about the crisis.
